Meet the Speakers VMU alumni Nigar Yahyazada and Orkhan Abdullayev, both graduates of the Sociolinguistics and Multilingualism Joint Master’s programme, work together at Karabakh University, Azerbaijan.

Orkhan Abdullayev has an impressive academic background, having completed his MA in English and Anglo-American Studies at La Sapienza University of Rome, as well as an MA in Educational Technology at ELTE University, Hungary. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Learning Sciences and Digital Technologies at Milan University, focusing on the timely topic “The Impacts of AI on Higher Education Students' Creativity.” In addition to his academic achievements, Orkhan is a valued member of the British Council Study Abroad Counseling Program and the founder of mentorun.az, where he continues to inspire and guide many students. His passion for education and innovation makes him an invaluable asset to our team.

Nigar Yahyazada, an alumna of Vytautas Magnus University, graduated in 2022 with a degree in Sociolinguistics and Multilingualism. With a background in translation, she is currently engaged in research and the development of ESL textbooks at Karabakh University in Azerbaijan, where she also teaches IELTS. Nigar has previously worked as a Project Coordinator at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University and as a Lead English Teacher, applying her expertise to enhance language education initiatives.

VMU alumna Meiqi Zhang from China completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s studies in the Performing Arts Solo Piano program at the VMU Music Academy (2018–2024). She has just begun her PhD at the VMU Education Academy, focusing on the philosophy and social competence of musical aesthetics education in higher education.

„I am 24 years old, and I come from Anyang, a city in Henan province in central China. My native language is Chinese, but I also speak English. I come from a family deeply involved in music — my father is a piano tuner, and my mother is a music manager and art marketing director. I began learning the violin and piano at the age of 4, and I started professional piano training at the age of 9. My master’s thesis focused on the career of a musician“.
