From Linguistics to Logistics: Sensemaking Through Change and New Beginnings

VDU

How do we navigate the unexpected turns in our academic and professional lives? Join the presentation "From Linguistics to Logistics: Sensemaking Through Change and New Beginnings" by Gulkhanim Dunyamaliyeva from Azerbaijan during the hybrid discussion “VMU Alumni – The New Generation of Sensemakers” on Friday, November 14, from 16:00 to 17:30, both online via Microsoft Teams and onsite at the VMU Senate Hall (S. Daukanto g. 28, Kaunas).

This presentation explores how uncertainty particularly during the pandemic became a path to development, resilience, and reinvention.

Drawing on her personal experience as an international student who transitioned from linguistics to logistics, Gulkhanim reflects on what it means to be a sensemaker in times of change: interpreting challenges as opportunities, learning to adapt, and connecting different fields of knowledge to create new meaning.

Gulkhanim Dunyamaliyeva graduated in 2022 with a Master’s degree in Applied English Linguistics. A few years after graduation, she decided to continue her academic journey and is now pursuing a second Master’s degree in Business Logistics.

During her studies and after graduation, she volunteered as a Unibuddy Alumni Ambassador, supporting prospective students by answering questions about study programmes, life in Lithuania, and the admissions process. Don't miss the opportunity to check out this video interview with Gulkhanim, recorded in 2022 after her graduation from Applied English Linguistics.
