VMU alumna: "Studying at VMU strengthened my aspirations for politics"

VDU

Maka Berulava (Georgia) is an alumna of the International Politics and Development Bachelor's programme (2019 - 2023). She is now a Master's student at University College London, where she is enrolled in the Russian and Post-Soviet Politics program.

She was invited as a speaker to a discussion during VMU Alumni Day 2023, where she will share moments and memories from her years of study at Vytautas Magnus University.

“The most memorable moment was probably the first time I went as a volunteer to an event organized by the Sakharov Center at the Presidential Palace. This was my first meeting with the ambassadors, the President and Vytautas Landsbergis. For me, this turned out to be an excellent motivation not to miss a single such event during my studies.

Studying at VMU strengthened my aspirations for politics. I realized that anything is possible. The main thing is to take advantage of the chances and do your best. I became more purposeful and courageous. I developed resilience and effective time management, which was reflected in my best academic results year after year.

Two of my favorite topics were qualitative methods and conflict resolution in developing countries”.

As an alumna with a wealth of experiences and insights to share, Maka Berulava is invited to participate in a discussion titled "Resilience and Optimism of VMU Alumni around the World". Her chosen topic is "Academic career path insights," where she offers her perspectives on the journey from an undergraduate degree to pursuing advanced studies.
